BUNNY CHOW

Have you tried Biltong, Drywors, Snapsticks, Boerewors and Koeksisters? If your answer is yes and you live around the Northern Beaches, then you probably have been to African Vibe.

African Vibe is a family-owned South African Shop located in Balgowlah on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. They have been making biltong, a dried cured meat snack, over the past 20 years using their special blend of traditional spices. I have to personally say that they provide the best biltong in town… and you can quote me on that!

African Vibe is known for their biltong. Their sought-after beef jerky is made fresh every week using the best premium Australian beef blended with African Vibe’s special secret spices before hanging up to dry. They’re so good that even Australian Wallabies rugby star, Dane Haylett-Petty, pops by to get his biltong fix.

At the shop, you’ll find everything from Biltong (beef jerky), Drywors (droewors), Snapsticks (stokkies), Boerewors, Koeksisters, Rusks plus an array of South African food products and delicacies, merchandise, as well as South African inspired home decors and more. You can also order their South African food products online.

African Vibe uses social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram to increase the visibility of their business, build networks, promote their products, develop relationships and interact with customers and supporters. Some may ask, is using social media South African products effective?

As of this writing, African Vibe has more than 3,000 followers, with around 3% – 5% engagement rate and I’d say for that number of followers, their engagement rate is not bad at all.

Our social media management officer Ms Christine Buhay who co-manages African Vibe’s Instagram account shares some of her Instagram strategies in overseeing their account…

To make sure African Vibe’s feed stays fresh and relevant,  she does daily postings and weekly stories so she has more opportunities to attract people to the brand’s content. She also uses different content formats, such as photos, stories and videos.

It’s simple to say that our client African Vibe South African shop in Balgowlah on Sydney’s northern beaches has enjoyed our creative social media management just as much as we enjoy their biltong!

When it comes to following people, we find African Vibe’s ‘tribe’ whom she thinks would genuinely support and believe in their brand. These would be South Africans living in Sydney who’s been missing their well-loved treats and anything that would remind them of home. Also, Sydney locals who are interested in exploring what South Africa has to offer through their store.

She believes that it’s not all about posting product pictures and sales pitches. It’s good to provide content that aligns with what the brand’s audience cares about or what’s relevant to them.

Ms Buhay also says it’s important to be consistent and authentic so she makes it a point to post product photos, closeups and memes that are candid and natural. She wants their content to be simple yet meaningful, relatable and approachable.
